Finding a community while experiencing a language barrier can be difficult, but we find each other nonetheless.
Language is how people convey meaning, express feelings and communicate. English is the most spoken language in the world, but when it’s not your first, and neither is it the person’s opposite, the ability to converse becomes increasingly difficult.
Caron experienced exactly this. But she didn’t let this stop her from bridging the gap between her and a local community in Türkiye.
With the “Youth 4 Impact”, Caron travelled with purpose and spirit to create impact on both the world and on herself. She dedicated herself to volunteering in a public library in Kocaeli. Here, she was face-to-face with the local population, beginning her prosperous journey.

Caron was able to:
Now, she confidently says her small talk abilities have noticeably improved. Her impact to cross-cultural globalisation, albeit just in a small town, is important. Everyone has the potential to grow, and just like Caron, you can discover yourself in a new environment. Pressure makes diamonds.
Your decision to go Global Volunteering with AIESEC will always be an unforgettable experience. So, are you ready to take the leap of faith?
“After this experience, I’ve found a new confidence in myself. AIESEC is a wonderful platform for me to meet new people and train my skills in communication and discover new cultures.”
