AIESEC Bristol is based at the University of Bristol, as well as having a few members studying at the nearby University of the West of England. We are a very active LC, both locally, nationally and internationally. We have a rapidly expanding membership, and offer a wide range of leadership positions for both new and existing members.
Our Outgoing Exchange department is one of the most successful in the country, sending 45 students on exchange in our 2010/2011 term. We aim to build on this year by year. We also have a strong tradition of building Leadership through Exchange, with many Local Committee members taking part in exchange or summer opportunities abroad.
On a local level we have very strong ties to a number of local companies, as well as the University Careers Service, through our Local Advisory Board. Through our links to the Careers Service all members next year will receive the Bristol Plus Award as a recognition of their work in AIESEC.
We run a number of events throughout the year, including the Leadership Tournament, sponsored by Ernst and Young, and Global Village, a festival of global culture run in partnership with the Students' Union.
Nationally we have had a strong attendance at conferences, as well as successfully hosting Southern Rocks. This southern regional conference gave many members their first taste of AIESEC on a national level.
Internationally, through our high level of exchange participation we have built strong relationships with many AIESEC countries, including Brazil, China, Armenia and Germany. We aim to have as diverse an exchange pool as we can.
Here are some of the things we will be working on over the next year:
1. Ensuring high-quality, relevant training for all members
2. Expanding ICX activities, involving all the Local Committee in contacting companies
3. Building on the success of the Leadership Tournament and introducing Developing Leaders Days
4. More interaction with other Local Committees in the country, giving new members a chance to see more of AIESEC UK
